Janie was born into a fully nomadic lifestyle in approximately 1955.

Her Country is in the Clutterbuck Hills, W.A. (near the tiny community of Patjarr).  Her people are Pintupi.  They were one of the last groups of Aboriginal people to be contacted by “whites”.

Native Patrol Officers were bringing people into the Warburton Mission from this area as late as the early 1970’s.  A large portion of their country is now declared a Native Reserve (Gibson Desert Native Reserve).

Janie paints the Wangurnu Rockholes, which to the north of Patjarr.
