Doreen Dickson Nakamarra was born in 1965 in Willowra, 250 km north-west of Alice Spring, Northern Territory.

Women in Doreen’s family have been painting since beginning of the art movement in Central and Western Desert regions. Most of her family are famous artists. Her mother is Nora Long Napanangka and her sister is Janet Long Nakamarra (known internationally), her uncle and aunt also are all well known artists.

Doreen Dickson Nakamarra’s Dreamings are Bush Tucker (gathering bush food in her country), Fire, Waterholes and Women’s Body Paint design.

Like all other Warlpiri women, her paintings are nice and colourful and very delicate in style. She also paint beautiful black and white paintings.
